All the tasks of being an Indie Author sometimes takes up so much time it makes it nearly impossible to find time to write #amreading #amwriting #author #kindle #kindleunlimited #romance #amazon #bookboost #blogging

I'm about as structured a person as you can be. If I were a movie character, I'd be Rain Man. I wake every morning no later than 5 a.m. I check in with my tweeps. I make my coffee. I drink my coffee and check in on my author pages and email. I write this blog. And then by 8 a.m., I settle in for a morning of writing while I do my day job. If the writing goes well, I stop writing around 1 p.m. If it goes slowly, I continue to multitask until 6 p.m. when my husband gets home. That's pretty much my daily routine. I eat the same breakfast every day at 7 a.m. A light lunch at 12. And a small dinner at 6:30.

People ask me, how can you write and release a book every month. Structure. Structure. Structure. That's me. Only every once in the the while my focus is dragged away from writing the Indie book to manage the Indie business. It's hard work to sell a book, to release a book and promote it, and to keep your business going well while you continue to write and release because release, release, release is about the only way to have a successful Indie business. I'm sure out there in Indie land there are some authors having enormous success with one book out, but that isn't me.

I'm sort of in that  quandary right now. I'm releasing One Long Kiss this month, and two books in June, The Girl in the Comfortable Quiet & Broken Crown, but the darn business of this business is interfering. And I'm losing an entire week of writing time to sign books in NYC at Sexy in the City. I am so excited to be there, but worried about the time thing. I hate to miss a release date. But then if I don't sell books, what's the point of releasing, right?

The Indie proposition was a lot more fun imagined in my head, than in real life. I'm just saying, I'd rather be writing than promoting. My characters are getting impatient in my head wanting to tell you their side of things. I know, I know, they aren't real, but they are to me and they are to the readers who want to know how the series end.

So as I continue to countdown to my 1 year anniversary, I'd like to thank all you readers and especially those who recommend my work. Word of mouth, sharing my work with a friend, is the kindest thank you a reader can give an author. Better than a review. Better than the wonderful notes you send(though I am so humbled by each and every note)Tell a friend. You will never know how much that lightens the load of an Indie Author. Thank you so much for all your kindness and encouragement as I try to finish my little tales of Chrissie/Alan/Neil and Jack/Linda.

As always, I wish you Peace.

Today starts my blog tour for The Girl of Diamonds & Rust. It's going to be the world's smallest blog tour #amreading #chicklit #author #romance #kindle #kindleunlimited #blogging

So, as I start my 10th blog tour and near my 1 year anniversary of being an Indie, it's time for another exciting installment of things I've learned: If you've got something happening in your author world you don't like, change the team. I've had a monstrous problem with my books being pirated. Every author says "It's just the way it is. Deal with it." However, here is a trick I did with my ARCs that might help you. I never sent out the final version of my books for Read/Review. I can spot an ARC as opposed to the Kindle version I uploaded, and I never permitted more than 10 ARCS to be sent out. Still, with doing all those fun Indie things~blog tour, release blitz, reviews~ I started getting heavily pirated as of the release of One Last Kiss. It got to the point by my 9th release, The Girl of Tokens & Tears,  the book was up on the pirate sites before Amazon had it live and I had more copies stolen than I sold.

Scratch head. Very frustrating. Ah, but I code my ARCs. So, I put together a new team, instituted a no ARC policy, and low and behold, I released The Girl of Diamonds & Rust, and I've gone an entire week without being pirated. All I can say is, you don't have to live with being pirated. It may still happen, but I'm trying fight to back. My book revenue is for my grandson, Baby Hugs, and this month he needs something called a sump pump for his little house with his mom & dad. Don't know what it is, don't care. Hugs needs and I try to sell books to help out the little guy.

So, learn to be smart who you trust with your ARCs. The person in Indie land acting as your professional PR person may not be conducting their business professionally. ASK, ASK, ASK. And if you have a problem, change it up. The person I trusted didn't send my ARCs to Kindle devices. She just emailed the mobi file, which  made it too freaking easy to pirate me. One month and I still haven't gotten me off all the pirate sites.

So I'm having a miserably small blog tour because I switched everything up on the fly to prevent piracy. However, I'm not going through a release week where I've had more stolen copies of my book than sold copies, and that's a pretty fine thing. So If you're a blogging and would like to help, I'd truly appreciate it so drop me  an email.

As ever, I wish you Peace.

I can't believe that Chrissie is soon having her 1 year book birthday #amreading #romance #kindle #blogging #bookboost #author #indieauthor #amazon

Still counting down to my 1 year anniversary as an Indie May 13th. It's hard for me to believe that my little Chrissie in The Girl on the Half Shell is nearly a year. The first month I released her I sold 53 books. That blew me away that anyone would read my little story of intense first love between a girl with secrets and a totally messed up rocker. I didn't know anything about tweeting-page posting-Facebook- or really about anything about how things worked in Indie Land. I hit release and moved on to releasing my next book in June, The Signature. And I definitely didn't expect the kind of response I received on my first book.

Let's face it, the subject matter isn't your typical happily every after kind of thing. Chrissie goes on a gritty and raw life journey in the Half Shell Series. But here she is, 3 books out, with the final book in June to complete her story, and people are reading the series. Emailing me. Sending messages:"These characters are like my friends." "Amazing Series."And posting truly lovely reviews.

I have had offers to buy the book, but always linked to an "Can you completely rewrite Chrissie. Make her more like Ana." Ah, if I wanted to write ANA I would, but I don't. This is the land of non-hallmark happily ever after. Really, there has to be somewhere for messed up non-hallmark girls like me to go find a book. You can find them in my book collection.

As I work to complete the final book, The Girl in the Comfortable Quiet~releasing June 2015~ I'm getting a little misty and sad. I started my Indie journey with Chrissie and a part of me doesn't want to let her go. But it's time for a new girl, a new series, The Sand & Fog Series, and while I'm genuinely enjoying writing about Kaley Stanton, the challenges she faces in our modern time, it' still hard to say goodbye to Chrissie. She's come to age as a woman in the The Half Shell Series and with her, I had my coming of age as in Indie Author. We're sort of besties, doing this journey together. She's like my most trusted friend and wing-man.

Silly, I know. She's a book character...or is she?

As ever I wish you Peace.
