Why oh why is rewriting such a B**ch... #amwriting #author #indieauthor #romance #amreading #chicklit #kindle #kindleunlimited

Note to self: never schedule a release date again until you make sure that great hard drive failure of 2012 didn't result in the computer eating some of your chapters. I am officially panicking now. I take announcements seriously and the last book of the Deverell Series is scheduled to release on December 1. Supposed to be a slam dunk. I finished the books over a decade again.

Then came the discovery: not all of my chapters were recovered after my computer crashed and burned. So I've been frantically rewriting the missing chapters(thank god I have a plot tree and I remember how the story goes) and I have a permanent knot in my stomach. I'm doing well, I should be on target for the date, but that knot won't go away until I send the last rewritten chapter off to my editor.

Number 7 is shaping up to be the toughest release yet.  I think I'll take a breather after this book, maybe a month vacation in Hawaii and just sleep. I have a crazy ass schedule of releases for 2015. I'm going to need to recharge my batter before the new year. I'm having an amazing time being an indie. The work is hard. But who knew it would be so fun?

I wish you peace.

The Deverell Series:
Book 1 When the Perfect Comes
Book 2 Face to Face
Book 3 Love's Patient Fury Coming December 1st

Wow, I can't believe today is my 6 months anniversary as an Indie Author...#amwriting #amreading #romance #kindle #chicklit #blogging #authors

Today Chrissie and Alan, The Girl on the Half Shell, my first release is six months old and I think technically I am no longer a "new" Indie author. I've learned a lot thanks to the wonderful author friends I've made, sold some books, and have had a pretty terrific ride. More things I've learned along the way:

1. I launched with my favorite book and didn't know anything about launching a book, so my poor Chrissie has struggled a bit.
2. It doesn't hurt to publish in multiple genres. I went Historical Romance October 6th and have had 2 best sellers: When the Perfect Comes  and Face to Face
3. Traditional publishing moves at a snail's pace. I've published 4 books while we've been in discussion, and I don't see an end to discussion in sight.
4. Readers are wonderful beings. Beyond reviews I am always touched at the number of emails and kind posts I receive on my author page.
5. It takes a village to sell a book, so having a wonderful team of author friends really helps. If you don't have one, get one. If nothing else it makes the road more fun.

So, I think I might be planning something special for my anniversary. Not sure what yet. But I should have a party shouldn't I? Surviving 6 months as an Indie Author is no small thing. It is an amazingly challenging process to prep a book for release, and I'm going at a pace of 1 book a month moving forward unless I decide I need some sleep.

So to all my readers, those who follow me and those who loyally buy my books, thank you so much. You've made the first six months of this chapter of my life a remarkable thing. Magic can happen over 50. So keep dropping by. Say hello. Send me those emails. Love Love Love them. Or just show me some love on Facebook  Or you can like my author page on Amazon  .

I WISH YOU ALL PEACE!

In the process of preparing my seventh release. Woo hoo...#amreading #amwriting #author #indieauthor #chicklit #kindle #kindleunlimited

Well nearly 6 months into self-publishing and I'm preparing to release my 7th book. I've had 1 contemporary bestseller and 2 historical bestseller. It's been a wild ride. It's hard to imagine I started 2014 still isolated and alone in the cave, afraid to show anyone my work.  I never thought I had the toughness of skin for this. But I've survived the occasional bad review, the wayward acts of nastiness in the Indie world(truly I've learned regardless of how you conduct yourself they are impossible to avoid!) and I've made good friends. The incredible @rachelblaufeld @authorfabiola.

So how do I feel knee deep now in the process of being an author. Well, pretty much the same as I did with my first release. Excited, scared, frustrated, hopeful and at times teary eyed over the incredible kindness of some of my readers. I did not expect to be in this place at this point in my life, but I'm glad I am. I wouldn't change a single thing of the past six months.

The Girl on the Half Shell
The Signature An Amazon Best Selling Contemporary Romance
Rewind A Perfect Forever Novella
One Last Kiss
When the Perfect Comes Book 1 of the Deverell Series an Amazon Regency Romance Best Seller
Face to Face Book 2 of the Deverell Series an Amazon Regency Romance Best Seller

My sincere thanks to all those who have been incredibly kind. The shy girl from California has gone a far way with your wonderful support. I wish you peace.

I've just released book 6 in my journey to release 26 books in 24 months... #amwriting #indieauthor #author #amreading #romance #kindle #kindleunlimited #historical #novels #books

Last night I hit release on the second Deverell Series book: Face to Face. The 6th release in my journey to release 26 books. I can't say that the process is getting easier. I can't say that the nervousness and the excitement is less. I can say this is a fascinating journey for me. The more books I release, the wider my audience gets, the more critical or praising my readers are, and I never know what kind of review I'll wake up to.  I've spent 15 days on the Regency Romance Best Sellers list with When the Perfect Comes.

A lot of authors get upset over the wide variation in their reviews. I don't. I learn something interesting about me because I know when in my life journey the books were written, and I'm discovering that the books say something to me. This series was written after my father's unexpected death. I was devastated by his loss. He was a brilliant, wise, gentle man. It was hard for me to write, and strangely it was a period in my life when I think I had the most struggling to get out of me.

The further I go in this process of releasing my books, the more I realize I've written each and every book to say to me things at the time I couldn't not see. The final book of the series, Love's Patient Fury, releases December 1. I wonder what I will learn with that release about me. Thank you to all who have read my books. By doing so and posting reviews you help me learn things about me.
