You see our kids are grown. They are scattered all over the planet and it's quiet here. It's hard to be festive without kids. This is the second year in a row I haven't even rallied the holiday cheer enough to get a tree. We don't have a single present in the house. I pretty much send out just holiday check these days. Except for my grandson, Baby Hugs. Him I went shopping for. Baby things are a delight and you pretty much can't go wrong with a 9 month old. Brightly colored, lots of large parts, preferably irritating to adult ears, and you've pretty much found the perfect baby toys. Yep, I did presents for Hugs.
So why am I telling you this? I just sort of feel like I can tell you guys anything. We've all been together for quite a while. My extra-special extended family. There are the ones of you who check-in on me regularly(I have daughters like that). There are the ones of you who check-in when I'm behind on the new release and you want it(I have daughters like that). And there are the ones of you who check-in randomly just to make me smile or laugh.(I have a daughter like that.) See, pretty much my fictional universe has given me a wonderful virtual family.
I hope wherever you are this holiday season is full of joy and laughter. That you take time to pause and breathe and give thanks for the blessings you have. It's not about the presents or the tree or the party or Elf on the Shelf or anything else. Regrettably, too often we learn this once we're old...it's about how we're all just a little kinder, make just a smidgen more effort with each other, and that we take the time to reconnect with those we love.
As ever darlings I wish you Peace.
