I have an author in my circle of writing buddies that is an absolute sweetheart, Terri Lyndie. She is a wonderful writer (Wolf Eye Sly) and an amazing photographer, but she is also a delightful person. I don't think I've ever heard an unkind thing out of her or anything negative. She is sunny and full of enthusiasm. My kind of gal!
She went to see one of her heroes, Author Diana Gabaldon, and in Terri fashion she was thrilled to be there and brought a lovely card for Diana so she would know what an inspiration she had been on Terri. And the platinum rule applied last night: nice things happen to nice people. Diana thanked her for the card, when she was busy with a room full of a thousand people, and then tweeted her out to her 53K followers today. For just starting out Indie author that's a great gesture.
It is the little gestures, the things we're sometimes are too busy to think to do, that are measure of who we are and that truly matter. I believe in the platinum rule: Nice things happen to nice people.
