So, what have I learned? Well, the indie book market is the fastest market I've ever been in, and that's saying a lot. I've done over 30 start-ups in my professional career(everything from retail, manufacturing, to software) and just when I thought there was nothing new to the model, I started self-publishing. There is one constant across industries that applies here: the first year is a roller coaster. I've gone from my first month releasing to counting my readers in hundreds, to now counting my monthly readers in the thousands, and overall tracking readers in the tens of thousands. So, thank you all for reading my books. It's funny. I never thought I could share with so many people my thoughts and stories within the cover of a book. It's been an amazing experience.
But 2015 is turning into a rough and tumble market. The whole industry has sped up again and become more competitive. It's easy to get discouraged when you've had constant growth and suddenly the market shifts and you're fighting to reach new readers. It's good I'm a patient person. You go up, you go down; faster in this market than any other I've been in. But it keeps life interesting, right?
February will be no exception. I have one scheduled release on February 28th, the 2nd Half Shell Book, and I just might have a surprise release before that. We'll see. February is not a month dependent upon the Indie Market for me. This month is driven for me by when my first grandchild comes. He's due February 21st, but he's a first child so I'm thinking around the 28th. If he's early I'm going to have to adjust my schedule on the fly. There is no way anything is keeping me from baby "Hugs."
During this month of love, I wish you all happiness and joy. Knowing I will meet my first grandchild will make this definitely a month of love for me! And as ever, I wish you Peace.
